Event description

Description

Hosted by character comedian and impressionist Liam Hourican (Very Important People, The IT Crowd, Murder in Successville), this anarchic comedy night in Stoke Newington brings together the best alternative and character acts on the circuit. Surreal, absurdist, and satirical, this month’s line up previews Edinburgh gold from Rachel Parris, Jenny Bede, Mike Hayley and Marny Godden. As well as bringing fantastic, original comedy to Hackney, Cabaret Sauvignon is committed to helping refugees. Each month the proceeds of the night are donated to a different refugee charity. This month we are raising funds for LoveMusic HateRacism.

A pick of this month’s acts: Rachel Parris has won critical acclaim for her solo... shows which have run at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Soho Theatre London and on national tours, with the latest, Best Laid Plans, being awarded Best Musical Comedy Show (Whats On London), Best Jokes of the Fringe (Telegraph) nominated for Best Show 2016 (Funny Women) and recommended as a Pick of the Fringe by the Guardian who described it as "Beautifully crafted and performed...tears of laughter".

Jenny Bede is an award winning musical comedian and actor who was The Observer and Guardian’s Rising Star of Comedy 2015. She won Best Newcomer at the Musical Comedy Awards in 2013 after just three gigs and went in to start in her own BBC Comedy musical sketch show pilot JENNY BEDE: AAA. She has starred in Crackanory, Murder in Successville and David Cross’ new sitcom BLISS.

Jenny Bede is an award winning musical comedian and actor who was the Observer & Guardian's Rising Star of Jenny first gained a following on YouTube by writing, directing and performing in a series of topical parody music videos, gaining over 2million views as well as the eye of the industry.

She started stand up in April 2013, winning Best Newcomer at the Musical Comedy Awards after just three gigs. She went on to perform that year on the Free Fringe, after which she became the face of 'Mad on Chelsea', the irreverent spin off to the BAFTA winning Made in Chelsea, which saw Jenny write and act in weekly sketches

Essex boy Johnny Cochrane’s infectious charisma and cheeky charm landed him his own comedy sketch series on CBBC, alongside sidekick Inel Tomlinson. The Johnny & Inel Show was met with huge critical praise leading to nominations for two Royal Television Society Awards including Best Comedy Programme and Best Performance in a Comedy. As creator, writer and star of all 26 episodes, Cochrane quickly established himself as a bold and staggeringly ambitious Writer/Performer.

This rising star has since gone on to become a regular face on television with credits including: Safe Word (ITV2), The Funny Thing About (C5), The Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC), Sunday Brunch (C4), All Over the Place (CBBC) and Match of The Day Kickabout (BBC). He is also a firm favourite on radio, having presented two hugely successful high energy shows on both Fubar and Virgin.
