Event description
Learn from labor-management teams making partnerships a priority with tools to build trust and collaboration in California public schools.

About this Event

We are excited to invite you and your labor-management team to the CA Labor Management Initiative (CA LMI) Southern CA Regional Convening. This two-day event is an opportunity to learn about labor management, understand key collaborative frameworks and are designed as a shared learning and team building experience for school districts and county offices. You will hear presentations from experienced teams that have made significant strides by making labor-management partnerships a priority and learn how to take substantive and collaborative steps together to build deeper partnerships.

The full agenda will be available soon, with portions of the two-day program split into parallel strands for labor-management teams new to the CA LMI and those who have attended a convening in the past. New labor-management teams will receive an overview of the CA LMI and can use this opportunity to start on the pathway to deeper collaborative labor-management relationships. Continuing/existing teams will use their time to engage more deeply with new tools and rubrics. Join us and explore how central offices and school sites can improve organizational culture to focus on better outcomes for students and staff.

The CA LMI convenes public school management and labor association leadership to build deep and enduring cross-sector union-administration partnerships in California public schools. By exploring and sharing evidence-based research, professional learning methodologies, and best practices through peer learning networks, the CA LMI builds support and expertise among educators and administrators for local labor-management collaborations. FAQ's

Should I sign up as an individual or as a labor management team?

The event is designed for district labor-management teams. Teams should ideally include (at a minimum) the superintendent, HR director, certificated and classified union leaders and a school board member. Many districts also include key central office and site level staff and department leaders. There is designated time for team planning on both days. We encourage you to connect with your leadership to organize your labor-management team attendance.

What is the time-frame for each day?

Breakfast will be available both days at 8:30 am with the program starting at 9:30 am. The program will run March 2nd from 9:30 - 3:00.
