About this Event

NOTE: THIS IS A RESERVATION. Eventbrite allows you to make a "free reservation" to ensure that you get a seat and we do not over-fill the room. ADMISSION IS TAKEN AT THE DOOR. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you!

What if Béla Bartók wrote “Bye Bye Blackbird”? What if Charlie Parker wrote a prelude in E, or Sun Ra, a symphony in C? We may never know, but five Bay Area voices return to Maybeck to groove, swing, and do their thing over themes by Bach, Bartok, Satie, Tchaikovsky, and others. Chamber jazz from the heart!

This will be a live recording session! After a brief pause, the audience is welcome to stay and listen to any alternate takes that might transpire.

Darren Johnston – trumpet

Matt Renzi – clarinet, tenor sax, English horn

Adam Shulman – piano

Eric Vogler – upright bass

Jon Arkin - drums
