About this event
On Sunday, May 15th, International Water Safety Day, a number of aquatic organizations will host a Water Safety Festival at Texas Southern University. This FREE event will start at 10:30 am for participants. During the event, all ages of participants will learn about water safety and gain knowledge about various opportunities in aquatics while celebrating the accomplishments of Houston area aquatics programming under Coach Johnnie Means. Through a collaborative network of aquatic agencies, we are supplying gear, give-a-ways, and more than $5,000 of financial support for aquatic programming through learn to swim scholarships, certifications, and more at Texas Southern University, a Historical Black College, and University (HBCU). Come one or come all to be a part of this amazing event. This event will provide a collective experience for educating, promoting, and supporting aquatics. The event will be held at:
TSU Recreation Center, 3100 Cleburne St. Houston, TX 77004
There will be both out-of-water and in-water activities. The morning starts with a program with speakers from the TSU Swim Team and our community.

About the organizer
Every one of us on the Diversity In Aquatics team has been profoundly influenced by our experiences in the aquatic community that we can scarcely imagine our lives without this skill and this community.
There is so much history, empowerment, and excellence in this community that needs to shared and grown, We are educators, athletes, researchers, coaches, students and lovers of aquatics driven by our love and respect of water and the life-saving skill of swimming.
Our planet is mostly water, our bodies are mostly water, and all people unequivocally must know how to one with it.
We hope you join us in our quest to see that all members of society are educated about water safety and engaged in healthy aquatic activities.
