BOARDS WITH BRAINS is SVP’s open-to-all nonprofit governance education series. Join us for our 2017 trainings, like this one: Sharing the right financial information with your board is essential for good decision-making. This session will help both staff and board leadership understand how to share financial information that really matters.

About this Session:

Most organizations share far too much of the wrong financial information and not enough of the right financial information with their governing board. This fast-paced training session will define the essential financial information that needs to be shared with your board. We will cover the concept of dashboard financial reporting and how to make your financial reports concise and comprehensive at the same time. Every board member will be empowered to ask high-level financial questions and provide appropriate oversight.

Attendees of this session can expect to:

  • Provide participants with a clear understanding of what financial information is essential to share with their governing boards.
  • Provide participants with samples of great financial reports.
  • Teach participants how to create their own financial dashboard reports.
  • Teach participants the concept of allocating their capital account.
  • Review the importance of trend analysis and financial forecasts and how these reports drive decision-making.


About our Presenter:

Mark Holdt, Principal Owner of Mountain Sage Consulting, provides leadership, planning and financial solutions for nonprofit organizations. He specializes in board development, strategic planning, finance and fundraising. With over 30 years of experience, Mark has a proven track record of enabling organizations to reach new heights and raise record levels of new resources, which is a testimony to his ability to generate solutions that work.


About SVP's Boards with Brains series:

SVP Boulder County believes strong nonprofits deliver better results. For our nonprofits to be wildly successful, we believe strong leaders – both staff and board – help create adept organizations. Our Boards with Brains professional development series was designed with that in mind. We’ve got a variety of nonprofit leadership topics, as well as ‘tracks’ and levels to help attendees identify which sessions suit them best.

Our per-session fee is a below-market $40. Individuals or organizations can purchase a transferable, 8-punch pass (giving you a $10 discount on each ticket), and, each session also includes a limited number of scholarship slots (just ask).

Please note, SVP closes registration two days prior to each session and all attendees are asked to register in advance. Day-of drop in participants should understand there may not be space to accomodate them, or sufficient quantities of session materials available. They will be expected to pay on site with a credit card (please note, scholarship and 8-pack pricing is not valid for drop-in attendees).
