Buxton Hill Walks

Come join us for a scenic stroll through the beautiful hills of Buxton, starting at Light Wood and ending in central Buxton. Enjoy the fresh air, stunning views, good company and festive cheer as we explore the local hills and trails together.

We will meet at the entrance to Light Wood, heading up and out onto Combs Moss (no dogs permitted). Taking in the spectacular Flint Clough, we will descend to the Roman Road and up to White Hall. Crossing Long Hill we will drop down into the Goyt, using the dismantled railway path to head home via Beet and Watford Woods.

Itinery:

• Start 945am at the entrance to Light Wood for a short briefing, walk to start at 10am.
• Finish approx 1430/1500pm.

Details:

• This route will ascends via woodland paths to Combs Moss. We will descend back via White Hall, crossing Long Hill and heading home via the Goyt.
• Distance: approx 8 miles/13km.
• Elevation: approx 1500ft/450m.
• Level of difficulty: Moderate.
• Terrain: Rocky steep ascents, woodland paths, high stiles, paths and plenty of moorland and VERY boggy and soggy areas.
• PLEASE NOTE - no dogs on this walk due to restrictions on Combs Moss.
• Safety: this walks is led by a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader. This walk includes a short stretch along Long Hill without pavement - we will proceed carefully and all group members must follow safety instructions.
• Please note there are no toilets on this route.

What to bring:

• Snacks/any food you may need for the duration of the walk

• Waterproofs and warm layers
• Small first aid kit with any personal medication
