Come join Button Poetry at Park Square Theatre Company on March 2nd for Button Poetry Live March: WOWPS send off featuring K McClendon & TaneshaNicole.

About your features:

K McClendon uses they/them pronouns and is a fat, black, queer survivor from the Midwest who is currently a junior at Hamline University where they study creative writing. They focus on writing works that protest oppression and encourage self-adoration. They represented the Twin Cities at Rustbelt in summer of 2018 & 2019 and will be represented the Twin Cities at the Individual World Poetry Slam the same years. Their poem Protest was published in the 2018 True Art Speaks anthology, Featured in Err Magazine vol. 40 and 2019 spring edition of Blacklist journal.

TaneshaNicole is a Black queer non-binary poet living in the Twin Cities, MN by way of Salt Lake City, UT. They are a Pisces and it shows. TaneshaNicole has represented venues in national competitions such as CUPSI IWPS, WOWPS, and most recently NPS where they placed 4th overall with their team. Tanesha serves as Button Poetry’s Live Events Coordinator. In their spare time they can be found lounging with their partner Anni and beloved kitten Mewspresso. Their work has appeared or is forthcoming in Button Poetry, SLCC Bruin Voices Series, Write About Now, TEDx, Voicemail Poems, peculiar, Ink&Nebula, Prickly Pear Printing, and more.

THE RULES
Each poem must be of the poet’s own construction. Each poet gets three minutes (plus a ten-second grace period) per poem. If the poet goes over time, points will be deducted from the total score. The poet may not use props, costumes or musical instruments. Of the scores the poet received from the five judges (random audience volunteers), the high and low scores are dropped and the middle three are added together, giving the poet a total score of 0-30.

All poets must sign up day of at the door and a random draw will be conducted once the list closes! If you are interested in a spot and coming from out of town or looking for more clarification, email us at events@buttonpoetry.com
