Grow a garden for butterflies!
Be with us as NHG welcomes back Dallas Lepidopterist Society President Dale Clark, and get a quick overview of the life of a butterfly and what it requires in the way of plants in order to survive in this free class.
BONUS: After the class, stay with Dale for a personal tour of NHG's selection of Sun Perennials - some of the best plants to include in your butterfly garden space are in stock right now and ready to plant.
You need to know a bit of background on the adaptations of butterflies to know how to attract them. Learn some of the best nectar plants to attract adult butterflies to your yard, and what host plants - the plants they will lay their eggs on to feed their caterpillars - to get them to stay in your garden.
Fascinated by butterflies and moths ever since he was a child, Dale Clark turned a lifelong passion into a livelihood. In 1995, he created Butterflies Unlimited, a butterfly farm south of Dallas where he raises native butterflies. He is co-founder of the Dallas County Lepidopterists’ Society, a local organization which allows people to gather who share an interest in butterflies by going on monthly field trips.
