Event description

Description

After mid-spring, the next time to see larger numbers of butterflies is early fall. ...so why October?

October is the best month of the year to observe butterflies in north Texas as strays from the south are moving northward, while other species are migrating south, and still others are trying to get in one more generation before winter. NHG welcomes back popular speaker Dale Clark with this new presentation detailing how and why butterflies can survive the next two seasons, which plants you should plant, and what you can do to help.

You certainly do not want to miss this brand new, free class!

Fascinated by butterflies and moths ever since he was a child, Dale Clark turned a lifelong passion into a livelihood. In 1995 he quit his full-time “real job” and created Butterflies Unlimited, a butterfly farm south of Dallas where he began raising Texas native butterflies, offering more than 50 species. He co-founded the Dallas County Lepidopterists’ Society, which those with an interest in butterflies to go on monthly field trips. From 2006 to 2011 he was editor of the News of the Lepidopterists’ Society. Currently, Dale is a highly sought after speaker, and he makes regular appearances at North Haven Gardens.
