When & Where
Tiffany Young: Family Historian, author , producer & Butler Island Plantation Homecoming organizer.
Tiffany Young has been avidly researching and documenting the families and the cultural legacy of Butler Island Plantation and Hampton Point plantation for over a decade. She is a 6th generation descendant of driver Morris and his wife, Betsy, former chattel of Pierce Mease Butler. Her research has helped her to appreciate the strength and experiences of her enslaved ancestors and has driven a quest to uncover the details of their lives on Butler Island and St Simons Island. Tiffany shares their stories with other researchers and descendants with the hope that new discoveries, new connections, and forums can be built and preserved. If you have ties to Butler Plantation, Coastal Georgia, the Gullah or Geechee Culture, or an interest in African-American or Georgia history, then she invites you to continue this journey of discovery, connection, and sharing with her and the numerous other supporters of the Annual Butler Island Plantation Homecoming Celebration.
