Event Details

Butchlesque is a BUTCH Fashion Show that showcases Butch identified lesbians displaying their individual interpretations of female masculinity.  Count-down to midnight at the Dance immediately following the show.

We are really excited that our third full-on "Butchlesque" event will be on NYE (December 31, 2013) -- at the beautiful Gulfport Casino Ballroom!  Check out some highlights from Butchlesque - 2012 "The BOIs are Back" show (& listen to all those screaming women).

For those of you who haven't attended "Butchlesque" & don't know what it's about, in the simplest of terms it is a music-and-fashion-driven showcase of butch-identifying lesbians, displaying their individual interpretations of female masculinity.

Join us as we celebrate and appreciate Butch women for their roles in the LGBT community.  Visit our website for updates on our contestants and production.  CLICK here for our photo line-up of Butches who will entertain you this year.

Our Butches will be feeling the love!  All of those butches taking to the catwalk to show off their fashion styles & swagger are richly rewarded by the bevy of femme admirers in the audience!  It is the place to see & be seen!  Be a part of the show by applying here.

Unlike a typical fashion show, there is much interaction between "Butchlesque" participants & the audience.  In particular, during the wildly popular "Crowd Favorite" portion of the show, butches fan out through the venue, bumping & gyrating with attendees for those precious votes!  The show culminates with winners being declared in the categories of "Dapper", "Beefcake", and "Crowd Favorite".

This year, we're adding a dance immediately after the show!  Our followers have asked for it, and we listened!  What better way to close-out 2013 and usher in a brand-new year, than dancing the night away in the company of our friends & the LGBT community?!

We are also happy to announce that a portion of the proceeds will go directly to St. Pete Pride's Community Grants Program!

About Femmelicious Productions

The butch-identified lesbian has historically experienced significant, persistent discrimination. By providing a forum for exploration of “butch” perceptions, we are working to not only dispel old stereotypes of lesbians — and butches in particular — but to also allow butch-identified individuals an evening to feel the community’s appreciation for their roles in the LGBT community.

“Butchlesque” started in June 2011 when the producer pitched the idea of a runway show featuring “butch” lesbians showcasing their style on a catwalk as a fall fundraiser for an LGBT non-profit organization. Through aggressive / enthusiastic use of social media marketing, 15 participants showcased their perceptions of the “butch” identity to a sold-out crowd of 230. “Butchlesque” was so eagerly received that, right up to the curtain rising, people were trying to acquire tickets to this sold-out event.

About Producer - Kim Herbel

Kim Herbel first discovered her love for the theater at the historic landmark Chodl Auditorium in Cicero, Illinois, where she appeared in the musical, “The Truth About Cinderella”.

Born into a military family, she believes that the need to adapt to many different situations & cultures led her to appreciate different points of views & the inherent value of diversity.  After observing that the masculine-of-center female continued to be a maligned & under-appreciated segment of the lesbian community, Kim developed “Butchlesque”.

Kim has been a passionate advocate for abused & neglected children through her work as a Guardian Ad Litem in the 12th Circuit; she has also contributed countless hours to other significant organizations such as the American Cancer Society, the National Psoriasis Foundation, the Boy Scouts of America, the Morton College Literacy Program, and Trans*Action Florida (f/k/a the Florida Organization Regarding Gender Equality).
