Business Volunteers' Role of the Board: Essentials 2.7.17
Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM (EST)
Doors open at 8 am for coffee, light refreshments and networking. Our program will begin promptly at 8:30 am.
As nonprofits face growing complexities and challenges, getting the governance right has never been more important. As a board member, you bring relevant skills, expertise and networks to the nonprofit organization. It is important to have a clear understanding of what your job is as a board member and what it's not.
The key to success depends on the board and the executive director developing a competitive and forward vision, leading the organization through change, and developing resources to accomplish objectives. Nonprofit organizations are effective when the board and staff recognize their respective roles and work together.
The Role of the Board Essentials training is an engaging half-day seminar that reviews the specific roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members. After attending this seminar, you will have guidelines for effective and meaningful nonprofit board service and a clear understanding of your role and the expectations as a board member.
Below is an outline of the topics we discuss during the seminar:
· Overview of the Nonprofit Sector
· Differing Cultures of Boards
· Responsibilities of a Board Member
· The Legal and Social Accountability of Boards
· Effective Fiscal Management and Fundraising
