Join Dean Robert Sumichrast of Virginia Tech's Pamplin College of Business, to learn about Virginia Tech's investment in a new global business and analytics complex. This new multi-disciplinary living/learning community is expected to elevate the university's profile and reinforce their global leadership position.
The ~115,000 SQ FT Data and Decision Sciences Building will house faculty and classes from multiple colleges, including the College of Engineering, the College of Science, and the Pamplin College of Business. The new facility brings together computer science, engineering, and data-related disciplines under one roof to provide opportunities for students, faculty, alumni, and industry leaders to work side-by-side to collaborate and solve pressing data challenges.
Sumichrast earned a Ph.D. in management science from Clemson University and began his academic career at Virginia Tech in 1984. He left in 2003 to become dean at LSU’s business college, then held a similar role at the University of Georgia, before returning to Tech in 2013 to become dean of Pamplin College.
