  • Obtaining proper licenses and permits, and complying with tax requirements
  • Funding your business and managing your finances
  • Exercising your legal rights and avoiding common legal issues

Presented by: Wai-Ling Chin and Ryan Metheny with the support of PACE (Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment):

Wai Ling Chin is the Business Counseling Manager for PACE BusinessSource Center. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Marketing. She supervises the business counselors at PACE and oversees the Individual Development Account (IDA), Financial Education, Credit Building, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Asset Building programs. Wai Ling is the committed Site Coordinator of three VITA sites. She manages the VITA sites operations, recruiting and training volunteer tax preparers and actively reaching out to taxpayers to save their tax refunds such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit, and Education Credit.

As a credit counselor, Wai Ling conducts credit workshops and one-on-on credit counseling. She emphasizes credit building because credit building = asset building. Wai Ling is a strong advocate for savings and asset building because they are the foundation of economic mobility and security. As a loan counselor, Wai Ling packages and underwrites business loans. Her goals are to help underserved individuals, entrepreneurs, and small business owners access to capital, accumulate wealth and build assets. Wai Ling speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien and Bahasa Malaysia.
