Description

Please join Green Building Worldwide on Thursday, September 28, 2017 for The Bronx Mega Development Forum and Networking Mixer.

Join the business community for the September Business of Green Building Development and Infrastructure discussion on the Transformation of the Bronx.

The City of New York has developed a ten year capital strategy plan, FYs 2018 to 2027 with Capital Strategy with over 95.8 billion dollars in planned spending. All to improve infrastructure, buildings, and neighborhoods across the five boroughs.

The Peninsula
Under their plan, and with the design services of WXY architecture + urban design and Body Lawson Associates, the five-acre site will give way to 740 units of affordable housing, 52,000 square feet of open and recreational space, 49,000 square feet of light industrial space, 48,000 square for community facilities, and 21,000 square feet of retail space.

Kingsbridge Armory
The redevelopment of the Bronx’s Kingsbridge Armory into the country’s largest ice skating complex has been mired by funding uncertainties, but the long-planned revitalization project may finally be moving forward.

Lower Concourse Infrastructure Investment Strategy
As part of activating the Lower Concourse North site, the City must undergo a rezoning of the site from manufacturing to mixed-use commercial and residential to allow for the creation of commercial and community facilities, as well as residential and new open spaces. The site will include an extension of the Harlem River Waterfront Access Plan and ensure that the site will be subject to Mandatory Inclusionary Housing (MIH). The Uniform Land Use Review Process (ULURP) has begun and will commence in fall 2017.

Hunts Point Peninsula
The Hunts Point Peninsula is an area of approximately 690 acres in the South Bronx, nearly half of which is occupied by the 329-acre Food Distribution Center. It is a diverse, industrial neighborhood with a solid residential community of roughly 12,000 residents.
