TOPICS OF DISCUSSION

  • What do you need to know about business to succeed as an artist?
  • What tools from the business world can be adapted to help artists thrive?
  • How can artmakers challenge “business as usual” while also building sustainable businesses?
  • What challenges are you facing as an artist/arts entrepreneur?

GROUP COACHING COHORT

A cohort of up to 8 participants will join together weekly via Zoom in a safe and confidential space for group conversation. Each week, the group will engage with resources related to a particular topic like business planning, branding, etc. Additionally, each session two participants will bring a challenge they’re grappling with and receive expert guidance from the instructor and support and advice from the others. We’ll also save space each week for any urgent issues that come up.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Rebecca Novick is a theater-maker, writer, and social practice artist. A seasoned producer and arts leader, Rebecca was the founder of Crowded Fire Theater Company and served as its artistic director for ten years. She developed and led the Triangle Lab, a collaboration between California Shakespeare Theater and Intersection for the Arts that explored how art can be more deeply integrated into community life, and then went on to serve as Cal Shakes’ associate artistic director. She has taught arts management for Intersection, SFAC, Mills College, and others. Rebecca has also consulted for many foundations and arts non-profits and offers coaching to artists and artist-led organizations.
