She received her B.A. from Howard University and her law degree from Washington and Lee School of Law. Lee is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She is an experienced and well rounded estate planner. Her firm’s philosophy is to help clients create, build and properly transfer wealth. Ms. Lee frequently writes and speaks on the importance of Estate Planning and issues concerning pre-death needs and Estate Administration.

Both local and national recognition have been added to Lee’s list of accolades for her seminar on strategies to Using Estate Planning to Create Generational Wealth. She is a contributing writer to the new edition of Senior Citizens Handbook and Lawyer’s Weekly. Ms. Lee has taught courses on Estate Planning for the Virginia Society of CPAs, the Old Dominion Bar Association, National Association of Black Accountants, Urban Financial Services Coalition (formerly National Association of Urban Bankers) and the National Association of Press Women.Attorney Melanie Lee has received certification for the proper use of IRA and structured retirement accounts in estate planning. She was quoted in the Wall Street Journal on the topic of scam artists taking advantage of families in mourning over the death of a loved one. The article entitled, “In Times of Grief, Scam Artists Arrive,” offers suggestions for protecting oneself from those who want to take advantage of heirs during a difficult time period and discussed the effect of probate on families.

C&F Bank's ‘Business Beyond Banking’ Speaker Series is a monthly breakfast program designed to provide small business owners access to information and education outside of the realm of banking. Each month will feature a different expert from various fields relating to small business support and resources, including branding, succession planning, organization, networking, and more!

Structure: BBB Breakfasts take place on the 1st Tuesday of the month and are free for anyone to attend -- simply RSVP in advance.
