Bus Tour: Traversing the Ten Crucial Days Campaign

Meet at Washington Crossing Historic Park, 1112 River Road, Washington Crossing, PA 18977

In celebration of the Patriot’s Week activities, The Trenton Downtown Association is hosting the “Traversing the Ten Crucial Days Tour” twice during the holiday season. Join local historians tour guides, Larry Kidder, author of Crossroads of the Revolution: Trenton 1774 to 1783, and Ten Crucial Days: Washington’s Vision for Victory Unfolds, and Roger Williams, of the Ten Crucial Days Associators, Inc. on an all day excursion to the sites and scenes of the Ten Crucial Days Campaign of December 25th, 1776 to January 3rd, 1777. Guests will travel back to those dark days that essayist Thomas Paine called “the times that tried men’s souls” in luxury on a 36 passenger bus with stops at key points of the marches, skirmishes and battles of Trenton, Assunpink Creek and Princeton. Kidder and Williams will explain who took part in the battles, and explain why they happen here, and why were these events so “crucial”. Along modern streets and suburban byways, tour guests will learn how, where and when men followed George Washington into battle.


Tours begins at 9:00 on December 15th, 26th and 31st at Washington Crossing Historic Park in Washington’s Crossing, Pennsylvania. The tour will make stops at Washington Crossing Park in Titusville, New Jersey, and in Trenton. The tour will then continue along the route taken by the American forces to Princeton, stopping for lunch at Bill’s Olde Tavern in Hamilton Twp., New Jersey. Continuing along the route, the tour will cover the events of January 2nd and 3rd, 1777 at Princeton. Finally, tracing the military events of the campaign, the eight-hour tour will return to Washington Crossing Historic Park in Pennsylvania at 5:00pm.


Cost for the tour is $125 per person includes bus fare, lunch, and donations to the officially recognized friends groups at each of the four venues of the Ten Crucial Days Campaign; the parks at Washington Crossing, the Old Barracks Museum, and the Princeton Battlefield. selected tour sites.
