Known as the Bishop of the Barrio, Bishop Gallegos is beloved by the community here in Sacramento. This full length play, written by Richard Alcala tells of his struggles to become a Priest and his rise as Bishop to his untimely death. His statue is outside the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament along Bishop Gallegos Square and his remains are enshrined at the Church of Guadalupe. The Vatican is reviewing his life and accomplishments to be the next modern day saint. Come and see why!
