Burning Issues Online Panel
Event Information
About this Event
Australia’s recent unprecedented bushfire season highlighted the power of fire and the damage it can cause. Writers Chloe Hooper, Kimberley Starr and Leisl Leighton talk with Maggie Baron about how their crime books get up close and personal with arson and bushfires, and confront some of the most uncomfortable realities of life in this sunburnt country. You can find more information about the event and panelists on our website here: Burning Issues
The live event is cancelled, but the ‘in conversation’ is being recorded and will be available for free viewing worldwide on YouTube on Sunday 26 April. Details of how you can watch will be sent to members and supporters via the e-newsletter, A Stab in the Dark, on Sunday 26 April, so make sure you're signed up by clicking here.
Sisters in Crime pledged to donate all proceeds of our traditional raffle from this event to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. We invite you to show your support of the Victorian Bushfire Appeal and purchase a ticket to the event for just $10. Three lucky ticket holders will score a crime book pack, worth $150 each, to be posted out anywhere in Australia (apologies to overseas fans – international postage is just too expensive!) The packs contain three books by the authors plus two other books:
1) Megan Goldin, The Escape Room (Michael Joseph/Penguin); Paul Dale and Vikki Petraitis, Cops, Drugs, Lawyer X and Me (Hachette)
2) Belinda Castles, Bluebottle (Allen & Unwin); Mary K. Pershall, Gorgeous Girl: A Mother’s Memoir of Madness and Murder (Penguin Random House)
3) Belinda Castles, Bluebottle (Allen & Unwin); Dr Xanthé Mallett, Cold Case Investigations (Pan Macmillan)
