Academy of Tease is excited to present our April Workshops! We are celebrating our love of classic burlesque and hope that you will join us for a day of fun.
Classic Burlesque: Boa Baby
This class focuses on the fundamentals of a burlesque costume staple, the boa! This fun, feathery workshop will teach techniques and tricks that will help you tease your audience and tame your feathery boa. Dress for movement and bring a boa if you have one. Dance shoes are welcome but please, no street shoes.
Classic Burlesque: Bump & Grind Basics
This class focuses on traditional classic bump and grind burlesque. Classic burlesque is where burlesque started and is fundamental in burlesque dance. This class focuses on walking with grace, musicality, hip movements, shimmy’s and the art of the tease. This is a beginner workshop suitable for performers of all levels.
Classes are taught by Lola Love. Honolulu based performer Lola Love, founder and creative director of Pretty Peacock Productions, is a pioneer of the burlesque revitalization in Hawaii. Lola Love along with Meghan Mayhem, founded the first burlesque troupe in Hawaii, Cherry Blossom Cabaret. Lola was director of CBC until she left in 2013 to focus on Pretty Peacock Productions which has quickly grown to become the premiere in Hawaii burlesque entertainment.
Lola Love has performed at New York Burlesque Festival, Vancouver International Burlesque Festival, has toured across the U.S and is the Director of Programming for BurlyCon. She has also written, performed and produced hundreds of sold out shows in Honolulu over the last decade.
