Event description

Description

Last spring, the St. Joseph County Medical Society held a community wide talk including a presentation by author Sam Quinones, author of Dreamland: The True Take of America’s Opiate Epidemic which really opened the dialogue in our community. In hopes of continuing this community dialogue, we are hosting another event dealing with the effects of bullying.

Dr. Browns background spans from being a school social worker for 13 years to earning a PhD in 2010 that focused on the many aspects of bullying. He has done research and has journal articles and publishing on the following:

  • What is bullying?

  • Identifying risk and protective factors in States bully prevention laws

  • Parent experiences in discovering and reporting their child being bullied

  • School principals investigative processes in reports of bullying (under review)

  • Urban school social workers experiences with school bullying (in progress)

  • Evaluation of Empathy based intervention program (Presentation/report)

  • ways physicians can and do advocate for children, youth, and family

This is a free event to attend, however we do ask that you pre-register.

**Physicians will receive 2 AMA PRA Category 1 credits for attending.
