“There have been bullies since there have been playgrounds.” In this workshop we will take an in-depth look at bullying in the 21st century.  We will explore the various types of bullying to include, school, workplace and cyberbullying, and examine characteristics of bullies and bully accomplices.  Finally, we will examine the effects of bullying on the perpetrator as well as his targets, and then discuss real world solutions to bullying.

Paul Martin, DO, completed a residency in psychiatry at Case/Metrohealth and a fellowship in Forensic Medicine, Syracuse University.  In addition to several years as a staff psychiatrist working in jails, crisis centers and prisons, he has served as consultant to State of Wisconsin public defenders regarding competency issues. As a consultant he has presented throughout the states of New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio to social services, law enforcement, probation, school personnel, businesses and universities on topics of mental health issues, stress and violence in the workplace, and adolescent violence.
