Building Your Own Farm's Food Safety Manual Workshop
Tue, May 23, 2017, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM EDT
This is a one-day workshop taking place at the Amtrak Station, County Community Room, 918 Railroad Ave, in Tallahassee, FL, on Tuesday, May 23, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The workshop will help growers develop their own food safety manuals. It is targeted to fresh fruit and/or vegetable farming operations, fields, or greenhouses. The workshop is conducted using computers (one laptop is provided for in-house use per farm if necessary, limited laptops available) to access a web-based food safety manual development program. The workshop is limited to 20 farms on a first come, first serve basis. Each farmer may bring an additional person if computer assistance is needed.
The workshop was developed and is presented by the University of Florida, Small Farms Academy Extension Agents, and is partially supported by a grant through the Florida Specialty Crops Block Grant program from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service.
The registration fee is $35 for the first person representing a farm and $15 for an additional attendee from that farm.
This class does not fulfill in the new FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirement for one-time training.
