Teachers will learn more about the importance of vocabulary instruction and the 30 million word gap prevalent in urban schools. Participants will understand the nuances between Tier One and Tier Two words as well as learn CCLS-aligned instructional strategies that address the vocabulary gaps for all students. These strategies can also be applied to and support the implementation of city-wide ELA curricula such as ReadyGen, Expeditionary Learning and CodeX.
Relevant for ELA teachers and instructional leaders, and teachers addressing literacy in the content areas, grades 3-8.
