Event description
The core ideas behind explainable AI

About this Event

We have another exciting AI meetup.

In recent years, the themes of transparency and trust have become increasingly central to the way that humans develop, manage, regulate, and monitor ML technologies. It is clear that now more than ever stakeholders need tools to detect model bias and understand model behavior. At Fiddler Labs, we're building a general-purpose Explainable AI Engine to solve these problems at scale.

In this talk, I will introduce the core ideas behind explainable AI and cover the cutting edge of modern explainability technology that we are harnessing into our core product at Fiddler.

Agenda:

5:50 pm - 6:00 pm Arrival and socializing

6:00 pm - 6:10 pm Opening words

6:10 pm - 7:10 pm Luke Merrick, "Building Trust in the Black Box: An Introduction to AI Explainability"

7:10 pm - 7:30 pm Q&A

About Luke Merrick:

Luke Merrick is a Data Scientist working to tackle AI explainability at Fiddler Labs by combining deep theoretical understanding with an appreciation for the challenges of deploying ML in the real world. Luke is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a background in applying machine learning techniques to the pricing of financial assets. He has previously done work in the areas of quantitative finance and insurance tech, and he particularly enjoys tackling the challenges of low-signal time-series prediction problems often found in these disciplines.
