About this Event

Building Together: Harnessing Our Power for Gender Equity

WREN and the National Women's Law Center, in partnership with YWCA of Greater Charleston, We Are Family, People Against Rape, Charleston Black Pride, EveryBlackGirl, Inc., and Black Women 2020, will hold the event on Saturday, December 7. The event will take place at a unique historical moment. Our status as the "First in the South" primary state in the 2020 presidential election season brings a national spotlight to South Carolina. We will seize this opportunity to highlight the power that women and gender-marginalized people have to shape our future. Will you join us in capitalizing on this moment to build the long-term movement for gender equity?

The program will include an interactive discussion on the leadership of women and gender-marginalized people in SC, an intention on diagnosing our problems as a movement, a focus on healing, and an opportunity to build a collective agenda that will command 2020 presidential candidates to embrace issues that matter to us.

We will begin the day by highlighting a new report on the status of women and gender-marginalized people in South Carolina with leaders from across the region, and we will end with an exercise in mindfulness, self care, and sustainability.
