You're invited to spend part of your Saturday participating in a series of fun activities and workshops centered around empowering students and their parents. This event is FREE and includes lunch!

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS


1. Transitions: Middle School to High School

In this conversation, students, parents, and education leaders will share the top 5 strategies to help middle school students transition to high school school both happy and successful.

2. Crime Prevention & Safety Panel

Listen to law enforcement officers from Newark Police Department, the Newark Community Street Team and community advocates and parents discuss ways to reduce and prevent crime in our community. Specific information will be given about starting a 'Block Watch.'

3. Are you smarter than a 4th Grader?

In our spin of "Are you smaller than a 5th grader," participants will learn about key strategies to get their 4th graders prepared for the transition to fifth grade.

4. Yoga: Basic Tips Everyone Can Do

This workshop will be a deeper exploration of the basic foundation and philosophy of yoga, including the physical practice (asana), pranayama (breathing techniques), and dhyana (meditation) to cultivate heart-awakening and freedom in the body and mind. In short-hand: come de-stress with us!

5. Self-Defense Workshop

A self defense course designed to make you more aware, prepared, and ready for any situation that may occur in your everyday life.
