Building School Capacity - Leading Teacher Teams is a three-day workshop that prepares school-based teacher leaders to effectively facilitate their teacher teams as they hone their assessment practices.
Building meaningful assessment practice across your school is a big job. It will require all hands on deck. Assessing student progress, practicing responsive teaching, enlisting students in meaningful goal setting, engaging parents. Whatever your strategy, the work is multi-faceted and complex. Your school needs driven, well trained teachers to lead the work.
Day 1 - October 6th, 9:00 - 3:30
Provides an overview of the leader’s role, strategies for effective facilitation and corresponding hands-on activities for acquiring and strengthening skills needed for guiding peers in deepening their practice.
Day 2 - October 8th, 8:30 - 3:00
Emphasizes strategies for optimizing team instructional decision-making through the careful analysis of data and student work.
Day 3 - October 13th, 8:30 - 3:00
Addresses the important work of establishing a coherent instructional foundation in the school. Participants who attend the workshop will learn strategies for leading teams to establish common assessments and common curriculum. With these fundamentals in place, teacher teams will be better prepared to engage in inquiry around instruction and student learning.
Participants who attend this three-day workshop will return to their buildings ready to go with a set of strategies and tools aimed at building school capacity to create an assessment informed climate, where teachers and students together are deeply focused on student progress.
