Description

Join us for the new training ; Building Risk Communication Skills. This free 1-day course will help you Communicate Risks and Inspire Action. The job of discussing potential natural hazard risks and solutions—and motivating people to take action—is definitely not a “one size fits all” challenge. In this course, participants will learn how to

1-Respond to difficult questions with more confidence using social science and risk communication principles;

2-Develop an effective risk communication strategy that incorporates these principles;

3-Recognize differing values within their audience;

4-Identify why people perceive and respond to risk the way they do; and

5- Practice these new skills.

Floodplain/CRS managers, planners, emergency managers, community outreach specialists and others working to improve coastal resiliency will benefit from the knowledge and skills gained at this workshop. There is no fee for this training. Lunch is provided. Please register online or contact Mike Shelton - mike.shelton@dcnr.alabama.gov or call 251-490-8968.
