Description

The trend in hate and bias crimes across the country – and particularly here at home in Fairfax County – has triggered concern within the faith community. Fairfax County has made combating hate and bias through community education, outreach and intervention a high priority.

Join the Fairfax County faith community as we come together in strength, understanding and fellowship to address the debilitating effects of hate and bias in our community.


Program:

8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. breakfast and registration

9:00 a.m. – 10 :00 a.m. Morning Panel (County and Government Leaders)

10: 00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Breakout Sessions*

12:15 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Lunch – Afternoon Panel (Faith Leaders)

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Breakout Sessions*

*Please note: Breakout Sessions will last about 45 minutes each; all attendees will have the opportunity to attend all Breakout Sessions

Breakout Sessions topics:

  • Building Bridges: An interfaith conversation about the cause, impact and affect that hate crimes have on interfaith relations

  • Creating a welcoming and secure environment at your house of worship, during and outside of religious times

  • Preparing and responding to potential emergencies

  • Understanding the current status of hate crimes in Fairfax County


This event is presented by Fairfax County and Faith Communities in Action in partnership with the Communities of Trust Committee, Fairfax County Public Schools and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
