Elements of Resilience Group Discussion
In 2013, emergency managers, human service planners and community and faith based organizations began a regional conversation on strengthening capabilities through whole community coordination, engagement and integration. The March 2013 Disaster Planning Conference focused on the critical areas of transportation, alert and warning, and social and human service agency preparedness. Following up that effort in 2014 the Get the Word Out Conference strengthened mechanisms and strategies for the effective and timely delivery of emergency messaging.
Building off of the successes and momentum from previous years the 2016 Vulnerable Populations Disaster Planning Conference aims to broaden the understanding of community resilience, highlight the interconnectedness of systems, and gain a deeper understanding of the unique roles that community and faith based organizations, community leaders and emergency managers play in supporting resilience.
Join us on Wednesday, May 25 as we hear from local, regional, and national experts on strategies for creating resilient communities, learn about best practices, and discover new ways to connect on the individual and community level.
Who should attend?
Emergency managers, public information officers, representatives from community and faith organizations, human service planners, tribal leaders, philanthropic organziations, and anyone interested in emergency planning for vulnerable populations.
