The Project LETS Team is excited and proud to announce our inaugural conference, "Building Peer Support Services in University Mental Health Care Systems" from October 6-9, 2017, at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

We are welcoming:

  • Project LETS chapters launching their PMHA programs this Fall
  • University students with lived experience looking to get involved
  • Administrators and university personnel working to make changes on campus that center the needs and experiences of neurodivergent students
  • Community providers working to support us in the community, including: social workers, therapists, psychiatrists, counselors, and psychologists (thats you!)

Conference Details:

The majority of the conference will focus on ableism in academia, and peer support as a primary support system for mentally ill college students. Our events on Monday will be structured like a hack-a-thon, with teams of students, administrators, and providers working to create innovative solutions to the issues that face college students with mental illness.

This conference is an excellent opportunity to compare policies and practices at other institutions, in the community, and learn from each other. We will also have a variety of workshops on suicide prevention, student trauma, peer support, culture and mental illness, power and privilege, and much more.

We have confirmed attendees from Yale, Columbia, Valdosta State University, Montclair State University, University of Pennsylvania, Brown University, Rhode Island College, Carnegie Mellon University, Princeton, Cornell, Michigan State University, and more.

At the conference, we will train student leaders from these universities and equip them with the skills to start Peer Mental Health Advocate programs & LETS Chapters at their own schools.

We welcome providers to attend our Peer Mental Health Advocate training program!

NOTE: You are responsible for your own TRANSPORTATION & HOUSING. Once you register for the Conference, you will receive an e-mail from us with different local options.
