Building Our Power: Alabama Results of The Black Census Project

About this Event

The problems facing our communities are complex and we know that the solutions require experimentation, innovation and political power. On Saturday, September 14th, please join the Black Futures Lab, Greater Birmingham Ministries, TAKE (Transgender Advocates Knowledgable Empowering), Grassroots Coalition - Birmingham, Alabama Black Women's Roundtable, Black Voters Matter, and co-sponsor Commissioner Sheila Tyson for an evening of dialogue and strategy building.

We will be looking at the Alabama results of the Black Census Project - the largest survey of Black people in the Unites States in 150 years. We're tackling some of the most pressing issues affecting our community and developing plans to drive sustainable change and activate our full power at a local level.

To request interpretation or childcare for the event, both of which will be provided free of charge, please follow the link: https://forms.gle/aXMLddNEma2jfJ2S9. All requests must be made by Monday, September 9th.

Collectively, we will transform our community and create the future we deserve!

See you there.

“Black people have always played a role in unlocking the promise of an America that has not yet been realized, and if there was ever a time to tap into that power—it’s now.”

-Alicia Garza, Principal at Black Futures Lab
