About This Month's Clinic
Online organizing using technologies such as social media, especially Twitter and Facebook, YouTube, e-mail, and podcasts can enable faster communications by social justice movements and the delivery of local information to a wide audience. In 21st century communications organizing, the use of online strategies has become crucial to building movement momentum, and amplifying your community's and your organization's public voice.
This monthly tele-clinic will focus on online organizing - including list building, email blasts, designing alerts, and other tactics, platforms and strategies. Rashad Robinson, Executive Director, Color of Change will offer best practices and help participants receive feedback on their current strategies and practices and troubleshoot challenges.
About Rashad Robinson
Rashad Robinson serves as Executive Director of ColorOfChange.org, having joined the organization in May 2011. For well over a decade, Robinson has helped to mobilize communities across the country to create more inclusive cultural and political institutions.
A recognized expert on how popular culture impacts American attitudes and values, he has served as a thought leader, widely sought-out speaker, strategist and leader on holding public figures accountable and utilizing media to shift public opinion concerning progressive and civil rights issues. He has appeared in hundred of news stories, interviews, and political discussions through outlets such as ABC, BET, CNN, MSNBC, OWN, The New York Times, Fast Company, and NPR.
Communications Clinics are sixty minute free telephone based group coaching sessions that provide participants’ access to communications expertise and peer-based support. Through storytelling, question and answer periods with experts, and a facilitated tips and tools exchange, communications clinics are a timely and efficient way to brainstorm communications solutions; get expert feedback and advice on media strategy; and exchange best practices or request additional support.
The Center for Media Justice, home of the Media Action Grassroots Network, is a national organizing and training collaborative dedicated to democratizing communications policy and practice through the cultivation of grassroots infrastructure and leadership.
