Event description

Description

Covering topics on the value of diagnostics, addressing skills shortages, building interpersonal savvy and effective government writing, this event will provide taster sessions of some of AIM Public Sector’s most popular and sought after leadership development programs and services. It will also provide a platform for an open discussion on the skills shortages facing the QLD public service of tomorrow.

With light refreshments, lunch, tea and coffee throughout the day, as well as access to the AIM Brisbane Career Coach, AIM Public Sector General Manager and experienced Learning Advisors, this is a personal development event not to be missed.

Session 1: The Diagnostics Decision: using diagnostic tools for leadership development (8am - 9.30am)

Over breakfast, a panel of senior QLD public servants will discuss their experiences using diagnostic tools to enhance leadership development within their organisations. Facilitated by Colin Boldra, General Manager, AIM Public Sector.

Session 2: Collaborative Discussion: Building Leadership - address the skilling needs for the workforce of tomorrow (10am - 11.30am)

The QLD Government has recently accepted three of the four recommendations from the Coldrake Report, looking at the rejuvenation of the QLD public service. This facilitated discussion considers the Coldrake Report, budget restraints and PSC Strategic Plan and provides a forum for QLD public servants to share their stories of success and how they've overcome challenges.

Networking Lunch: 11.30am - 12.30pm

Session 3: Building Interpersonal Savvy (12.30pm AND 2.30pm)

Interpersonal Savvy is “an almost free flowing style of interaction with diverse others, such that it leads to ongoing productive encounters” (Emotional & Social Intelligence Competency Framework). This sample session from AIM Public Sector's hugely successful Leading with Mastery & Insight program, Dr Kim Hazendonk explores how to use your individual preferences, body language and empathy to improve the way you engage with those around you.

Session 4: Effective Government Writing (12.30pm AND 2.30pm)

Public sector employees are much more impactful in their role when they are communicating clearly and concisely through effective writing. This sample session will cover some of the key take aways and approaches for 'writing right' for government.
