Building Intimacy: The Science & Practice of Attachment - Allison Clanton, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) (3-Hour Session)
It is often important for therapists to consider the client's capacity for healthy relationship functioning. This course will take a deeper look at attachment as a system in the brain that influences our patterns of interaction which form and sustain mutually-satisfying relationships. We will also consider therapeutic approaches that focus on improving the quality of our relationships.
1. Participants will be able to identify the various indicators of attachment-related problems.
2. Participants will develop an understanding of the stress-response process in the brain and how it influences our patterns of relating to attachment figures.
3. Participants will be able to identify 3 models of intervention to enhance clients' capacities for secure attachment.
