About this Event
Harris County Public Health in partnership with the University of Houston Honors College Community Health Worker Initiative is excited to the announce the Building Healthy Communities Conference on November 2, 2019 at the University of Houston Student Center.
This year's theme, Breaking Barrier's in Public Health, will focus on the important role of community health workers (CHW)/promotoras in breaking barriers to improve the health of communities.
This academic event offers incredible talks on resiliency, health literacy, chronic disease prevention, maternal health, and so much more.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs):
This conference offers CEUs of various accreditation organizations, thus attendees may earn continuing education contact hours for CHES, CHW, CHWI, LCCE, and Social Work. There is a continuing education registration fee. Attendees need to pay only for one discipline, highest registration fee, and receive the other disciplines at no additional cost. Payment for access fee should be made prior to conference, no refunds can be made for continuing education registration fee.

CHES
“Sponsored by University of Houston-Honors College CHW Training Center, a designated a provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) to receive up to 5.0 total Category I continuing education contact hours”
LAMAZE
Accredited university educational offerings that align with one of the seven LCCE Educator Competencies can be used towards Lamaze contact hours for continuing education.
Social Work
5.5 CEUs/Contact hours 5.5 through the Universality of Houston GCSW
Please note that CEUs for CHW and CHWI are pending approval.
