An interactive theater performance to explore bystander intervention strategies around conflicts rooted in implicit biases.

    About this event

On Wednesday, join us and Theater Delta for an Interactive Theater performance on the ISMs (racism, sexism, and homophobia) and social justice in the campus community. These two performances (4 pm and 7 pm on 9/2`1) focus on an interaction among 3 students in a casual, social setting and are appropriate and relevant for undergraduate students. Topic covered will include intersecting identities, microaggressions including intent versus impact, bystander intervention, and understanding our unique social location (privilege) and the concept of Social Justice through a Restorative Justice framework.

On Thursday, at 4 pm (Best for Faculty!), Theater Delta will return with an Interactive Theater performance more geared for faculty audiences and students working in groups. It will cover many of the same concepts but address conflicts rooted in racism, sexism, and social identities as they may appear in the classroom. Topics covered will include strategies for deescalating challenging conversations (faculty focus), microaggressions including intent versus impact, bystander intervention, intersection identities, and the privilege continuum.
