Event description

Description

For the first time, Isaac Landfert* is holding a 4-week workshop on his unique style of character development.

Each participant of this workshop will learn to create characters through guided experimentation, writing and structured improvisation. Some characters begin with an idea, others are inspired by props and some are born from the necessity of the situation. Regardless of the character's starting point, the participants of this workshop will develop skills to flesh out their creations into 3-dimensional entities with a life of their own.

(participants must be 21+ years old) Classes run 6pm-730pm on Mondays (2/26/18, 3/5/18, 3/12/18 and 3/19/18,)

*Isaac Landfert started his comedy career in 2001 with a video camera and stolen wig. With no expectations or formal training, he began making short films and producing live shows with the mock-n-roll group Devils Brew. This was before the explosion of YouTube, when human beings still relied on physical vessels to exchange video content and Devils Brew produced 4 DVD releases between 2003 and 2008.

From 2008-2010 Isaac lived in Brooklyn, NY and studied at the People’s Improv Theatre and Gotham Writer’s Workshop. He also self-published a comic book entitled “Mush: The Indestructible Schmuck”. Meanwhile, his alter ego Jasper T. Colbaire appeared on 2 consecutive seasons of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. After the birth of his first child Isaac dragged Jasper to Indianapolis, IN.

Today Isaac is a house performer at the White Rabbit Cabaret where he produces and appears in various forms in several regular shows including “Lloyd and Harvey’s Wowie Zowie Show”, “Let’s Make a Date” and “An Evening with the Authors*”. Jasper still manages to find his way to various stages around the Midwest and continues to milk his F-list fame for all its worth.

Isaac embraces a 3-dimensional approach to character work he learned from watching such greats as Jim Varney, Paul Reubens, Andy Kaufman and Sacha Baron Cohen. The belief that the character should stand on its own is so deep that his name is often left uncredited.

Whether he appears as a drunken redneck, an elderly comic or a down and out shlub that just wants his court ordered weekends with his daughter, Isaac Landfert always presents a hilarious blend of cartoonish fantasy and a person you interact with on a daily basis. The path each character leads the audience down is as unique as the mind from which they were born.
