"Building Bridges" is the theme of the 2018 Region 4 conference presented by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) at Point Park University on March 9-10.

The conference, open to SPJ professional and student members as well as non-members, will explore a variety of topics. Sessions will include "Covering Assault in the Newsroom: Sexual Harrassment Hits Home," "Running Student Newsrooms: Editors vs. Administrators," "Covering Race," "Crisis Reporting: Staying Safe and Getting the Story," "Access 2018: Working With Public Information Officers,"
"Future Focus: Who Owns The Media?." "Do You Know Your Libel/Slander Laws?," Multi-Media Journalism Today," and "Opiate Abuse: The Human Costs From A Recovering Addict."

Dan Hayman of West Virginia Public Radio is the keynote speaker.

Region 4 winners of SPJ's Mark of Excellence Contest will also be recognized.
