We must strengthen partnerships across the uniquely American R&D system comprised of colleges and universities, Federal and National labs, private companies, non-profits, and Federal agencies.

– Kelvin Droegemeier, Director, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP)

Building Bridges Across the S&T Enterprise brings together science and technology (S&T) leaders to share best practices and build collaboration across the Federal S&T enterprise. Participants will discuss strategies for making effective portfolio management decisions, identify opportunities to leverage resources and ensure that federally-funded research and development (R&D) is accessible for public benefit, and exchange best practices in building evidence to assess the impacts of R&D investments.

Discussion Topics

  • Promoting access to federally-funded R&D resources, including laboratories, equipment, data, and expertise

  • Tracking R&D investments to promote accountability

  • Building evidence to evaluate impacts of R&D investments and make strategic portfolio decisions

  • Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness through strategic resource sharing

Speakers (include 50+ S&T leaders)

  • Kelvin Droegemeier, Director, OSTP

  • Chloé Kontos, Executive Director, NSTC

  • Jennifer Shieh, Assistant Director for Entrepreneurship, OSTP

We are expecting approximately 300 participants addressing pressing topics like long-term strategic planning for R&D infrastructure, reducing administrative burdens, broadening access for federally-funded research, creating innovating partnerships, and stewardship of scientific collections.
