What is the IDL?
The Infiltration and Duct Leakage (IDL) certification is a task-oriented credential that verifies a candidate can conduct duct leakage tests to the ASTM E1554-07 standard and blower door tests to ASTM E779 standard.
Earning the IDL certification is an affordable way for technicians of home builders, framers, re-modelers and building trade contractors to gain the skills needed to offer duct leakage and blower door tests, in compliance with IECC codes for new homes. Certified professionals with this training are an important asset to building code offcials, builders and homeowners.
The Building Performance Institute, Inc., (BPI) is the nation’s premier building performance credentialing, quality assurance and standards setting organization. BPI develops technical standards using an open, transparent, consensus-based process built on sound building science. BPI is approved by the American National Standards. (ANSI) as a certifying body and as an accredited developer of American National Standards.
