Description

Building a Culture of Reading in Your School

Do you want to build a vibrant culture of reading in your school?

Students become readers not on their own, but as part of a reading community, both at home and at school.

In this workshop, you’ll learn practical strategies and best practices for building an active, supportive, exciting reading culture in your school. We will explore how the NYC Reads 365 program and other online resources such as TeachingBooks.net can support your efforts; how to plan and execute different types of activities and events; and how to build bridges between home and school. Most importantly, we’ll discuss how to develop the relationships that are necessary for success.

This program is eligible for 3 hours of CTLE credit in Pedagogy.

The New York City Department of Education is recognized by the New York State Education Department's Office of Teaching Initiatives as an approved sponsor of CTLE for Professional Classroom Teachers, School Leaders and Level III Teaching Assistants.
