Description

Building A Common Vision for Healing: Moving from Trauma-Aware to Trauma-Informed Communities

Featuring Wendy Ellis, Project Director, Building Community Resilience, Sumner M. Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness, George Washington University

Alive and Well Communities and partners, with support from REACH Healthcare Foundation, will host a one-day convening on May 10, 2019. The convening will provide an opportunity to identify common frameworks for aligning community resiliency initiatives throughout Kansas City, as well as give individual regions the opportunity to use data to plan how to move beyond creating awareness.

Anyone interested in working to build resilient communities in the Kansas counties of Wyandotte and Johnson, and the Missouri counties of Jackson, Clay, Platte and Ray are encouraged to attend. Individuals interested in participating from other counties may attend, but the content will be tailored for the counties listed

*Participation is free of charge. Breakfast and lunch will be served.*

Presentations and discussions will include:

  • Applying the trauma lens – with equity at the center -- to community level outcomes
  • Using data to understand community level outcomes
  • Pathways to advance from discussion and training to implementation
  • Opportunities for community and regional alignment
