The College of Education and Human Services invites you to a Continuing Education workshop:
Building a Better Community for Returning Military Service Members and Veterans

This continuing education workshop will provide professionals, family members, and other community leaders with the tools they need to advocate for improved care and services for our veteran population. Participants will be exposed to a brief review of recent military history, professional competencies, and available resources. Those who attend this seminar will gain the ability to provide veteran-centric care, be knowledgeable of both government and non-government resources, and advocate for advanced veteran-friendly communities.
Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate improved cultural competency in the areas of the military and veteran populations.
- Assess the unique challenges that exist for veterans and their family members in the context of identifying available resources, deployment cycles, trauma and readjustment.
- Identify specific evidence based interventions for engaging the veteran population in a clinical or community-based setting.
