Description

WORM COMPOSTING (VERMICOMPOSTING)

Do you live in a space that won't allow outdoor composting bins? Are you already an expert in traditional composting and want a new challenge? Come check out Tarrant Area Food Bank's free worm composting class to learn how to create a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer with the help of eco-friendly earthworms!

Join TAFB's very own Lauren Hickman as she guides the class through the steps of putting together a small, simple vermicomposting system that can be stored inside the home.

Workshop participants should bring:

  • One 10-gallon (or smaller) storage bin with tight-fitting lid, similar to this one
  • One sandwich bag of fruit/vegetable kitchen scraps, frozen or fresh (no citrus)
  • Several sheets of newspaper

The materials above will be enough to make one vermicomposting system. Space for this workshop is limited. Be sure to reserve your spot today!

This workshop is intended for beginner-level gardeners ages 18 and over. We suggest wearing layers of weather-appropriate clothing that you do not mind getting dirty and closed-toed shoes. This workshop will be held in an indoor classroom.
