Event Details

Globalization, brands & publishers are causing undeniable change to the traditional agency model. Brands & publishers are building internal agencies, tech incubators, and content studios, and agencies are having to rethink their business models and team structures.

As this change unfolds, the value proposition of the global agency network has also been brought into question. In this event we'll debate the future of digital production, explore ideas for supplementing the global agency network, and discuss the rise of creative resources in unexpected places. Joining us for our panel will be two Costa Rican agency executives alongside US executives from Time Inc, PwC, & MRM//McCann (full bios below).

Before our panel we'll also have a quick showcase of four digital production companies visiting from Costa Rica including:

Maykool López

Maykool is a seasoned economist and marketer specialized in International Business Development and Technology Management with double master degree, graduated from University of Costa Rica and New York University. He has been in his current role in New York for the past 7 years supporting Costa Rican technology vendors to access the midmarket. He had participated in multiple market studies and go to market strategies to evaluate the feasibility and the potentiality of a wide range of products and services abroad. He is constantly supporting and promoting PROCOMER’s initiatives in the IT sector to international markets. This is a proven track record industry offering a powerful combination of high quality and competitive services like custom software development, QA, web and mobile development, BI, digital marketing, technology support and network deployment, among others.

Jules Ehrhardt

Founder, FCTRY

Jules has 16 years in digital, eight of which at the forefront of digital product, living/working in four continents. He spent eight years at the heart of digital product studio, ustwo, in an ownership and business architect role, where he helped establish the global reputation of the studio and forge their blended model of consultancy, own-IP and venture based work. Jules is currently building his next company, FCTRY, a venture studio serving as strategic partner to leading startups and VC firms.

He uses his position to help foster a more inclusive industry and environment. Whilst at ustwo he founded the Pledge Parental Leave movement. Jules is an angel investor in and advisor to early stage technology companies. He is a keen and candid conference, event and podcast guest speaker on the topic of the digital industry. He also shares his thoughts via Medium and Twitter under the @ezyjules handle.

José Coto is the CEO & Co-Founder of DoubleDigit, a technology and marketing implementation company. Prior to DoubleDigit, Coto founded BOSZDigital, a digital production shop in San Jose, Costa Rica that quickly became a mature organization, with over 500 employees, working with many global brands. The company expanded its operations to Bogota, Colombia in 2012, and was acquired by Publicis Groupe/Prodigious in 2013.

Philippe Quillery

Senior Executive Coordinator, WAM Digital

WAM Digital

Philippe Quillery is the Executive Coordinator and Creative Liaison at WAM, a digital production company based in San José, Costa Rica that works with both traditional and digital advertising agencies in North America and Europe.

Before entering the world of digital advertising, he worked for 20 years as an Executive Creative Director in agencies like Leo Burnett and Saatchi & Saatchi. Here he worked for clients like Philip Morris, Toyota, Quick Books, EA, Nike, Audi and is recently supervising client affairs and delivery with the Clash of Clans account at WAM, working directly with the team in San Francisco and London.

Since his arrival at WAM, the client base in the USA has increased 200% with revenues increasing by 400% and with his knowledge in ad agencies and their needs, new services have been added to the roster, like digital animation, 3D modeling and campaign localization.

Alec Morrison

Executive Director, Content & Strategy, The Foundry

The Foundry

Alec leads content ideation and execution for the Auto, Sports and Home categories at The Foundry, Time Inc.’s content marketing and creative studio. The Foundry produces native and branded storytelling across the company’s full portfolio of brands, reaching seven of 10 Americans across all channels and platforms. In the past year alone, Alec’s team has worked with clients such as Jaguar, Lexus, Motorola, Gatorade, KitchenAid and Holiday inn Express, helping them align their marketing objectives with the voices and perspectives of Time Inc.’s trusted brands.

Prior to joining The Foundry, Alec spent 17-plus years at Sports Illustrated as a writer, editor and, ultimately, director of branded content. In 2015 he launched the branded studio SI Overtime, working in close partnership with the title’s sales, marketing and editorial divisions to position SI’s branded efforts across a broader range of media.

Jennifer Meyers

Global & US Brand Leader, PwC

PwC

Jennifer specializes in helping build brands so they resonate in the digital age. She believes that a brand today must be useful to its customers by stimulating imagination and action to distinguish itself in the marketplace. At PwC, Jennifer is responsible for the firm's overall positioning, advertising, sponsorships and brand governance. Her team's goal is to continue to move and shape the brand for all of its target audiences.

Prior to PwC, Jennifer was a principal at Sullivan, a brand engagement firm where she focused on brand building in industries with complex products and services. Jennifer also led the brand offering at R/GA and was the head of program management at Interbrand. She has worked on a wide range of clients including Tyco, John Deere, New York Life, Ingersoll Rand, AARP, Capital One, Feeding America and Crown Castle. Jennifer began her career in crisis management and holds a BA in Asian Studies from Connecticut College and an MBA from the Goizueta Business School.

Neal Prescott

Global CTO, MRM//McCann

As Global Chief Technology Officer for MRM//McCann, Neal oversees the agency’s technology strategy and development as well as key partnerships around the world. He works closely with leaders in each office and helps define and implement the latest technology tools and solutions for clients.

With more than 25 years of experience, Neal is an accomplished leader with a top-tier background in professional services, technology implementation, digital production, marketing and practice development. He is an expert in translating emerging technologies to bottom-line business benefits and has a proven track record of successfully directing large-scale service organizations.

Neal began his tech career in 1993 as Director, Systems Integration, for SHL Systemhouse. Since then, he has held various leadership positions, including EVP of Technology Enablement at Digitas, CEO of Deliver and Chief Digital Officer of Hogarth Worldwide. Before joining MRM//McCann in February 2015, he served as CEO of Hogarth Wordwide’s Offshore group.

An industry award winner, Neal’s lifelong passion for technology extends to all areas of his life, and he’s a strong believer in leveraging technology to solve real world, business problems.
