Event description
Learn about basic electronic test & measurement by building your very own oscilloscope. All tools and expert help are provided!

About this Event

Who?

If you are a musician, maker, ham radio or electronics hobbyist of any level, learning how to use and build your own test equipment is a great reason to attend "Build It: Oscilloscope & Signal Source"

The premier maker group of the Hudson Valley and a leading amateur radio club are the sponsors of this event.

Squidwrench and HVDN will help pre-registered attendees assemble, test and learn about best practices and practical applications of the DSO150 Basic Oscilloscope and a co-developed signal source capable of generating test patterns and helpful applications when used with your brand new oscilloscope.

What?

The DSO150 basic oscilloscope is perfect for testing modern digital logic and audio related projects up to 200 kHz. With a partner, it's possible to assemble and test the oscilloscope in about 2-3 hours or less. The signal source can be assembled in less than 10 minutes.

We will provide the kits, all tools and supplies needed to complete them, as well as guidance and assistance through the process. Of course, if you have a soldering iron and would like to use your own, feel free to bring it along!

Pre-registration is required to ensure there are enough kits for everyone plus a few extra for last minute registrants.

Why?

Squidwrench is looking to raise awareness of its mission and maker space that appeals to a wide array of hobbyists including fabrication, 3D printing and industrial design.

HVDN is focused on providing a place for those interested in electronics and wireless communications through amateur radio and its modern relevance with technologies such as digital voice, satellite communications and the Internet of Things.

Together, both organizations will be using the proceeds of the event to increase visibility of modern electronic hobby efforts in the Hudson Valley and to fund further educational "Build It" events in the future.
