ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Elevate your Ableton Live skills by unlocking the secrets behind M4L!

Have you ever opened up your favorite Max for Live device in edit mode just to experience a deep state of "unlock shock?" Diving into Max for Live can be a daunting experience. This workshop will help you get past those initial waves of confusion and bust through the learning curve. With a solid focus on fundamentals while and the need-to-know tricks for patching efficiently, Instructor Nathan Crepeault (Deferlow) will guide you through the step-by-step process of building your very own (Dadageek exclusive!) parameter randomizer device complete with smart-mapping, preset saving capabilities, and much more!

In this intermediate-level workshop, students will learn to "patch from scratch" in the Max for Live environment and build their own devices from the ground up that modify the default behaviors of Ableton via the Live API. The ability to design and implement your own expressive tools using M4L can open an entirely new dimension to your creative process. This is the power of Max for Live!

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Nathan Crepeault, a graduate of New York University’s music theory and composition program, is an avid Max for Live user and bassist extraordinaire. He has been teaching Max for Live since his arrival from New York City in early 2011. Nate uses Max for Live to augment Live’s capabilities as a live looping tool, alter the functionality of his control surfaces, and tastelessly glitch any and every sound that might come across his workstation.
